ABS Fault Checks

When your vehicle has ABS, you need to be sure it works perfectly.

What does ABS do?

The anti-lock braking system (ABS) is a safety anti-skid braking system that has become a standard feature on most modern vehicles. ABS operates by preventing the wheels from locking during braking  it does this by very quickly disengaging and re-engaging the brakes. When its operating the driver can feel a very fast juddering through the brake pedal.

Why does the ABS light on the dashboard light up?

Two reasons  some vehicles light it up momentarily to test the bulb, other wise it might indicate a faulty ABS sensor on one wheel, or a more serious fault within the system.

When the ABS light is permanently illuminated, you should get us to check the system. If the brake warning light is on at the same time, do not drive the vehicle. Call us and we can arrange recovery and undertake repair.
